A character on Common Skies conforms to very few guidelines, as the site is based around sapient beings from different universes being brought to one shared landscape. You can pull a character from any world you wish to create, and though we do allow characters from existing works to be brought in, they have to be characters you have created. For example, you can bring in your Harry Potter OC, Raven Darkhair McAngsty, the long-lost twin sister of Draco Malfoy, but you could not bring in Draco Malfoy himself. You can bring in your own characters from your own stories, but please, please, PLEASE, do not use a character you do not yourself own, or do not have permission to use. We are all about a good story here, but never at the expense of someone else's rights. Below I've broken down the basic information we hope to see in new characters. Be as brief or as long winded as you think necessary, but (as I will reiterate below for those of you not reading this chunk of text) if you have anything super long, please create a post in the LIBRARY and link it here. Limit each Character Creation to one character.
Please also remember that in order to foster a good rp environment, all the characters do need to be believable and able to interact with the majority of other characters
For any of these categories, you may provide visual aides if you so choose, but please include a written description as well. Thanks for your attention!
Name: A bit obvious here, put what you want your character to be called.
Gender: Don't feel the pressure to stick to just Male/Female here.There is lots within and outside of those two.
Race: Whatever fits your character. There are the basics; human, elf, dwarf, dragon, faerie, etc, but you can create any race you like as long as you have a good reason and story to back it up. If you choose a race of your own creation, or one whose physiology is not immediately obvious, please provide a description.
Age: Make it realistic to your race, but that's about it.
Magic/Weapons: Please keep this realistic! Your dude can't fight while carrying nine swords, a couple of staffs, a mace, and a pike while he shoots laser beams from his eyes and rainbows from his ass. Magic is fairly loosely designed here, but staff we look at magical abilities with a bit stricter eye than weapons, because magic can become overpowered very easily, whereas an axe will usually stay an axe.
Physical Description: Put at least a basic description of what your character looks like, pictures are welcome but please include an actual description as well for those of us with super slow computers.
Personality: We realize characters change pretty frequently, so this is meant to be as you want them to be when you go to make your first post. We do ask that you provide at least a few initial guidelines for your character here, but know that you are not limited by what you say in this space. Characters will take on a life of their own.
History: Add as detailed or as vague a description as you like, but please at least provide what kind of world your character is from. As for detailed personal backstory, go into whatever detail you would like. If this section will be more than a page or so, we do ask that you post it in the LIBRARY and include a link so we can keep things tidy.
Established Relationships: Any relationships with other characters in the land. This is entirely optional, but be sure to get the creators permission if a character linked here is not your own.
