Name: Rain Jung
Gender: Female
Race: Vampire
Age: 315
Magic/Weapons: No magic, but carries a small utility knife in her boot, and has a wooden shovel with a green metal head.
Physical Description:
Rain is tall, with lean muscles stretched over a wiry frame. Inky black hair falls down to her lower back, and she rarely ties it up and away from her neck. She wears a cream colored sunhat with a yellow ribbon, and there is generally a fresh flower tucked into the band. Worn overalls do little for her figure; she wears them loose and baggy over a checked powder blue-and-grey flannel. Her rain-boots have brightly colored daisies on them. She has brown, almond-shaped eyes set in a round face with a petite mouth and nose and olive skin. She has sharp canines that she rarely tries to hide, instead opting for a broad, full smile. Though she wears little in the way of jewelry or make-up, she does have a small choker with a daisy on it that matches her boots.
Personality:
Rain is charismatic and incredibly likable, able to command the attention of any room she walks into. She has a detached fondness for all living beings, but views others as creatures she has a right to use. Though she makes efforts to hide her perceived superiority from people, sometimes it does show through and complicate things for her. Rain has no problem with killing out of necessity, but does actively seek alternatives when they are available.
History:
Before she was transported to Common Skies, Rain ran a free-range, organic, cruelty-free human blood farm. Her generation was the first born to militant hedonists who genetically modified themselves in pursuit of the ultimate drug. Human blood, to their modified bodies, offered a high that was stronger than any narcotic, but divorced them from their humanity.
Rain’s mother, Liza, was one of the first of these vampires, but after a rare moment of lucidity following a particularly violent feed, she fled to a remote commune in the hills that offered her refuge. Their one condition was that she had to give up blood and help them maintain their vegetarian lifestyle. Though not an easy transition, Liza broke her addiction and married the head farmer’s son. Together they had Rain, but the vampirism was more aggressive in her genes. As a result, Rain and the other born-vampires possessed a longevity and strength that far eclipsed that of regular humans. It didn’t take long them to spread and exert dominance over the humans.
Because of Rain’s unique upbringing on the commune, she found that she had a soft-spot for humans that conflicted with her desire to eat them. Instead of feeding like the others, she decided to take a kinder route, and converted the commune into a human farm once the original occupants had died of old age. She found human orphans whose parents had been killed by other vampires, and offered them a place on her farm. She treated them kindly, as a dairy farmer does his calves. Her charisma and careful socialization of the children made them malleable to her will. Instead of draining them when they were old enough, Rain instead opted to take smaller doses from many of them so that they could replenish their veins and keep themselves alive and more-or-less happy.
When the other vampires found out what she was doing, they clambered to get some of this cruelty-free blood. Some did so as a novelty and some out of genuine remorse for the violent nature of their feeding. Soon Rain’s small private farm expanded into a large scale operation. She cultivated fruits and vegetable to supplement her diet and add to the atmosphere of her brand. In the spring of her 315th year, Rain was abducted to Common Skies while planting a new crop of carrots.
